Chinnor Bike Day

It's been a few years since I've made it to the Chinnor Bike Day (which is of course three days really). It's long since out grown The Crown pub and has had to move down the road to a sports club to cope with the crowds. So there's plenty of room for camping and more room to display the wide variety of bikes that turn up and all the stalls. We didn't go to the Friday night party but made it for the main day on the Saturday.

frans bike.jpg - 25 Kb Auntie Fran almost lost her "pillion tart" status by riding her own bike but claimed a bad wrist (yeah right) meant she couldn't ride any further.

Having been trained by the Kennedy family (Neil, Keith & Jenny), we all left the rally after about half an hour to visit one of the local pubs for some nosh and some beer.

winner.jpg - 25 Kb I think this one won the best in show prize. Not that the titles mean much. A new Windsor & District MAG regular won "best modern" with his 1976 RE5!

winners.jpg - 31 Kb A few of the bike show winnders and you can see the stage in the background where bands played during the day.

tdm.jpg - 20 Kb Siôn gave some of Sarha's children a ride around before we went back to the pubs again.

Later we went looking for food in the village again but all the pubs seemed to have missed out on an opportunity by not serving food after around 5pm! I think Ricky (West Oxon MAG rep) found a pub eventually but not before Siôn and I had given up and gone to the chippy. The nice landlord in the pub next door let us sit in his pub to eat them though.

In the evening there were two bands on in the bar which was the only part you had to pay for yet I know Wycombe will come up with a good donation for MAG again this year. There were raffles, MAG stall and a tombola too.

fur bike.jpg - 30 Kb That's real fur on there!

Really well organised rally other than cunningly running out of food on the barbie at around 2pm. Perhaps they had more than expected due to the fantastic weather. Nice to see people from all the other local MAG groups and catch up with people.
